Dear Eudora Elementary School Families,

Welcome back to school! The EES Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has some dynamic plans for our
year and we're excited to get going! We start our year with the Jogathon, the PTO's fundraiser that
sustains our yearly budget. Rather than asking your student to sell items, we ask them to collect monetary
pledges and donations from family and friends to sponsor them as they jog or walk during an event held
during school on Friday, September 15th. Your child, their classroom, and the entire school will earn
prizes based on the amount of donations they collect!

The students run during their “Specials” times as listed below. Time is allotted for stretching and
reminders about safety before they take off jogging the approximately 400 meter track around school
grounds. As students walk or jog, staff and family volunteers monitor and encourage their progress. If
you'd like to volunteer, please send an email!

The PTO will use funds raised during the 2023 Jogathon to send all students on educational field trips
selected by their teachers. In past years, our classes have learned about the science of football at
Arrowhead Stadium, enjoyed the Kansas City and Topeka Zoo, watched a show at the Lied Center of
Kansas, and experienced Science City at Union Station. We're excited to see where your generosity can
send them this year! Depending on funds raised, we would also like to support special projects or
materials for our students, classrooms and facilities. In years past, for instance, the PTO used Jogathon
donations and partnered with the district and the Eudora Schools Foundation to install two new pieces of
inclusive recess equipment to our playground. Thank you!

Watch for the donation envelopes to come home with your child soon. Friends and family can also donate
online through our website (www.eudorapto.org) using the Venmo donate button or QR code. Don’t
forget to give credit to your student during Checkout with Venmo by writing the student’s full
name, grade level, and teacher in the “What’s this for” section. (The “What’s this for” section will
come when you’re inputting payment info). We'll be sharing all the details about Jogathon and other PTO
happenings on our Facebook page, Eudora Elementary PTO. “Like” us to see our posts!

You are invited to come participate with your student or cheer from the side as they laugh, dance, and
run. Before coming to the playground, please check in at the front office as you would any time when
visiting EES. The safety of our students is a priority to us; please send your student to school with
sunscreen on their noses, tennis shoes on their toes, and a reminder to stay hydrated as they exercise.
